Lisbon by Night

Lisbon By night 802A Dundas St West 416 603 6522

It’s fiesta time. It is gourmet dining time. It is like being in Portugal. It is so much fun. My only problem is my increased waist line and I still think it is worth it.

The minute you climb the stairs to the second floor of this authentic Portuguese restaurant you are in for a special evening. I have now dined here three times and am already looking to return. I have been so fortunate to be greeted by the best server in town, Susanne. She has become part of the family. The charming owner also circulates and treats every guest as if they are her personal friend. Every time I have gone to this restaurant I see owners from other Portuguese restaurants dining there. That alone is a recommendation for Lisbon by Night.

The Fish Rodizio is truly a Festival de Peixe. Imagine all you can eat….fresh grilled fish for $24.00. Three of us began with a large bowl of flavorful Fish Soup. It was so delicious and we all finished our large bowl knowing that a greater feast was about to begin. All evening platters of fresh grilled fish were served by Susanne. You take what you like and it keeps being passed around all evening. Can you imagine having salmon, tuna, grouper, sea bream, calamari, shrimp and kingfish all for one dinner? We did it and ate it all. Each time I have enjoyed over 6 types of fish. The food comes until you literally beg a finish to the fine dining.

The very best of Portuguese bread is placed on the table with carafes of fine olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The cured black olives could satisfy my hunger pains any day. The roasted miniature potatoes are the best. I always want to put some in my back pocket. Rice and salad are also served.

I highly recommend the Fish Festival.

One of my guests ordered Lisboa c. Gambas. Translated that was a picture perfect platter of grilled tender steak. Two giant shrimp were placed on top. Underneath small roasted Portuguese potatoes and brussel sprouts completed this magnificent dish.($26.95)

The Carne de Porco a Alentejana offers marinated pork with sautéed clams, wine, potatoes and cilantro.($19.95)

Two hungry diners can enjoy the Cobinacao de Marisco. This mixed seafood plate offers lobster, crab, shrimp, clams, mussels and calamari ($77.50 for 2)

Paella is a gourmet combination of saffron rice, chicken, pork, shrimp, calamari, white fish, scallops, clams, mussels, green peas and peppers.($58.50)

The menu is an extensive offering of a variety of special dishes. Both seafood and meat are widely available.

Often Portuguese music is live and sometimes Fado is the music of the night.

Nobody goes hungry here. You are so well treated and the food is great. Come hungry and be prepared to make this feast a long evening’s entertainment. Even the coffee was declared to be the best. A delicious dark chocolate treat was on the side of the coffee cup.

As if we didn’t eat enough we shared slices from a grilled whole pineapple coated with cinnamon. The flavor exploded in my mouth.

Lisbon By Night also likes to cater for weddings, showers and all types of parties. They have a private room on third floor and are prepared to make arrangements for flowers, music and decorations.

This is a dining experience. Guaranteed you will also have a good time.
