Trane Studio

It was a great night for all. The Olympic Games were officially opened. For me the big event was my grandson Alex launching his new CD, Convergence. Sax player, Brent Mah, flew in from Calgary for the event. My favorite drummer Max Roach was on hand, Bass player Dan Fortin was great as always. Needless to say (for me) Alex Goodman on his new guitar was the star of the evening. The music was great and it was wonderful to hear many of the selections on the new CD. Now I can even play them at home and enjoy it over and over. I was so happy to be surrounded by many of my friends and family. Even my 96 year old aunt came out for the occasion.

Trane Studio is a hot jazz spot. In fact when we left after 2 sets the Jazz Radio Safari was just arriving.

The ambiance is great. Paintings hang on the brick wall. The wooden floor speaks of days in the past with a renovated modern feel. The place was hopping and there was a lively spirit in the room.

We were immediately greeted by the charming Taiowa (a beautiful Hopi name) He was so warm and had quite a job seating all the patrons on this busy evening. There seemed to be only 1 server, Veronica. I don’t know how she did it. She looked after everyone and always had an engaging smile. We were all well served and marveled at her skill.

Another winner of the evening was the fantastic food. Trane Studio specializes in a Caribbean flavor. We were all so satisfied with our amazing food.

The Jerk Salmon ($24.95) was so great. I want to return today and have more. A very large portion was so beautifully flavored. It was spicy and tasty and so delicious. There were vegetables on the plate and a mound of tasty potatoes.

My two guests opted for the Jerk Chicken ($14.95) and their response was equally positive.

It is a great menu offering appetizer portions as well as entrée size. The menu does change frequently.

Jerk Shrimp Spring Rolls with a salad are great for a lighter tasting.($10.95) Chicken or Vegetable Quesadillas are also offered with a salad. ($11.95) Heartier meals are also available. Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb is prepared with port wine and a cranberry reduction.($26.95)

Trane Seasoned BBQ Wings are a popular choice.($11.95)

The music was fantastic. The food was great. We were well served. It truly was a special evening.
