Lakvino

Lakvino Ristorante 525 Bloor St West 647 345 2134 It was a special birthday celebration for a special person. I was asked to make the dinner arrangements for a group of six. Lakvino was perfect. It is easy to reach by car, walking or subway. Lakvino is a new quiet spot in the bustling Annex area. I find the clay colored walls very soothing. There is a tranquil inviting ambiance. The service is extremely warm and welcoming. Just as I imagined. This was truly the perfect spot. Six people raved about their food. We laughed (a lot) and thoroughly enjoyed the total celebration. The crispy bread is almost a meal in itself. I love the tasty dip that is provided. In the past it was a red pepper dip. So flavorful. On this occasion the dip was prepared with kidney beans, garlic and balsamic vinegar. We devoured several dishes. A shared Baby Green ($7.45) was fresh, tasty and totally enjoyed. I had the Pasta Special.($17.95) It was fantastic. The pasta was also served hot. I am always so delighted when the food is hot because it is hard to keep pasta warm. Fettuccini was flavored with a tasty white wine, garlic sauce. Many pieces of moist tasty salmon and tiger shrimp enhanced the dish. Fantastic! Several of the guests chose the Grilled Calamari. ($11.95) I couldn’t believe it was posted as an appetizer. Three large grilled pieces were on a bed of greens. It was enjoyed by all. The Grilled Salmon ($16.95) was beautifully plated and the taste also made the mark. The salmon portion was very generous and the fish was perfectly prepared. The Lakvino Fussili was prepared with a tasty sauce and chicken.($14.45) On my last visit I enjoyed a thin crust tasty Pizza. There are many choices on the menu. It was a birthday celebration so we had to celebrate with dessert. The Chocolate Hot Cake and Tiramisu were quickly demolished and we all licked our fingers and our lips. I love a good Cappucino. Not every place can claim attention to their coffee. This was a spectacular Cappucino. We all left satisfied and felt that the birthday girl had indeed enjoyed it all.
