Terroni

Terroni (revisted) 1095 Yonge St 416 925 4020 It was so superb the first time I had to return to see if I imagined it all. It was even better on this visit. I consider this the perfect spot for gourmet food at breakfast lunch or dinner. It was a very special friend’s birthday. I wanted it all to be perfect and gave a lot of thought to the restaurant choice. After my first visit to this Terroni location I knew where we would be dining. The staff is very professional, warm and hospitable. I would love to attend a training session to see how it is done. How fortunate for us we had Kimberley as our server. She is exquisite and so knowledgeable. We followed every suggestion she had for wine, first course and second. She was so right! I knew there was no option for dessert other than that Torta Calda. It is the best molten chocolate cake I have ever had. Terroni has done an exquisite job in the décor. The design is attractive and functional This is a very large restaurant but it is divided so that you have the feeling of being in a small room The downstairs room with a lovely outdoor patio does not take reservations. Come early. Reservations are necessary for the upstairs room because it is busy morning, afternoon and evening. This truly is the hottest new spot in town. The high quality bread is served with the most amazing extra virgin olive oil. It has an exquisite flavor. Happily you can purchase this product at the front counter downstairs, Other than one enormous 32 oz. Steak for $99.00 the food is moderately priced. Does anyone actually eat it all? Kimberley knew the wine list and we loved her recommendation. The Funghi Assoluti was the best salad I have ever tasted.($12.95.) A variety of mushrooms are breaded and fried. They are placed on a bed of arugula and covered with shaved reggiano parmigiano. We all shared the salad and declared it outstanding. I have never heard so many ‘oohs and ahhs.” Four guests were dining together and we did taste each other’s food. The Napoli Pizza was amazing. I am guessing that the flour was imported from Italy because it had a special flavor. It was an enormous pizza and even with sharing we couldn’t finish it all.($14.95) Two of the guests enjoyed the Spaghetti Limone.($16.95) The pasta is also prepared with flour from Italy and cooked perfectly al dente. The lemon flavor was complimentary to the fine quality pasta. The cheese shavings gave it a richness to complete this wonderful dish. The Ravioli with Duck was a generous portion but our guest had no trouble finishing it all. The sauce was excellent and the flavors so tasty.($17.95) Torta Calda is a hot smooth soft molten chocolate wonder.($8.00) It explodes on the palate and it just has to be totally devoured. There is no way you can leave even a speck of this dessert on the plate. I hope the birthday girl had a good time. Terroni has a magic formula to make everything perfect. From the moment you enter the restaurant you are treated as a ‘special guest.’ It was nice to see large groups, families and tables of two. Everyone is accommodated. If it was so special on my second visit just imagine what is in store the next time I return. I only hope it is soon.
