L'espresso Bar Mercurio

L’Espresso Bar Mercurio 321 Bloor St West 416 585 2233 I have eaten at this favorite neighborhood place on many occasions. I have always enjoyed the delicious fresh food and delectable pastries. I always admired the beautiful private room at the back. I knew one day I would have the opportunity to dine there. My apartment is under renovation. The furniture was wrapped in plastic and the floors covered with grit. Hardly the spot to entertain my granddaughter, grandson- in-law and great grandson (6 months old) They were visiting for only a few days from Israel and en route to a wedding in the US. Family wanted to see them. L’Espresso to the rescue. The private room was like being in a home and was perfect for a seating of 11 guests. It is elegantly outfitted. We sat regally at a large beautiful wooden table. The comfortable chairs made us feel very special. There was still room to walk around and enjoy private conversations. We ordered from the regular menu. Two Guests enjoyed the Angus Burger.($11.50) It was enormous and apparently very tasty. The Vegan Burger came in a tortilla wrap.($10.95) The Warm Calamari with Pasta was a choice made by one guest. Two of the guests enjoyed the Nicoise Salad. ($19.50) I have enjoyed this salad on many occasions here. We all loved our food and enjoyed seeing the selections made by one another. The Magic Wrap was prepared with a tortilla filled with many wonderful ingredients.($8.95) The Roast Beef Panino is a favorite on this daily menu.($10.95) One large bowl of Soup and 2 small bowls completed our dinner order. I am happy to say that everyone enjoyed their tasty dishes. For dessert we had several platters of Assorted Cookies. My favorite Biscotti were so scrumptious. Ginger cookies, Macaroons, Almond Crescents and Almond cookies made up the tasty platter. The Cappuccino here is one of the best in town. I love that drink. Others sipped on a variety of types of coffee. Special thanks to Yalda who so efficiently looked after us all. She kept the water glasses filled and poured the wine. She took all the orders and promptly delivered the food. Everything was done with charm and pizzazz. We wanted to adopt her into the family. This was a special reunion. We actually had five generations in attendance. Babies do bring out the best in all of us. It was a memorable occasion. I am indebted to L’Espresso for making the evening such a success.
