Lola Versus

Lola Versus My windows were all being changed. My place was totally wrapped in plastic and the saw dust was everywhere. It was too painful to be home. I walked downtown to see this film and even walked back. I had no idea what I was about to see. I just wanted to be out of the house. It was a delightful surprise. Lola is 29 years old and in love with a handsome loving man. (so we think) She is a grad student and totally in love. She thinks she has it all. He is attentive and caring. He proposes and Lola is thrilled. She begins all the tasks required in planning her wedding. She is so happy, The jerk jolts and she is left in one unhappy state. Her best friend tries to help her. They go to bars and dance clubs. She becomes really friendly with Henry, her boy friend’s best friend. He is very sweet to her and they do a lot of fun things together. She meets a man at the bar and has sex with him that night. In other words she is struggling to get over the loss and to move on with life. Because she is grieving she does make some bad choices. While all this is sad for Lola there is certainly some humor for the audience. Lola matures and begins to find herself. Greta Gerwig plays the role of Lola. She is very convincing in hr role. This is not a serious film. It is good for a summer romance comedy and somewhat entertaining.
